Working with Carol

Dealing with disordered eating begins with acknowledging and admitting you have the condition. The next step is to indulge your desire for a healthy, balanced and pleasurable approach to food, eating and life as a whole.

We will guide you through the process of building awareness about the factors that have contributed to your disorder. Together we will uncover and shift the way you think and feel about food.

In the early stages, most people—especially those who have been dieting compulsively for a long time—feel a newfound sense of freedom and joy. For example, you may be eating regular meals for the first time in many years or you may be developing a healthier relationship with your body. You might even be apt to declare, “I’ve got it. This is easier than I expected!”

While in the early stages you will undoubtedly make progress and will justifiably feel proud, discomfort tends to creep in as we move closer to unraveling the unwanted feelings that drive your disordered eating.

And after working with hundreds of individuals who have abandoned the diet craze and are recovering from disordered eating, I can tell you that the traces of a life in which food was the enemy often linger in the wings for some time. Everyone is different, but depending on the length of the disorder, shifting one’s mind-set around food generally takes considerable time, care and patience.

Eating in your likeness allows for questioning and exploring the choices that you are making…this is the path to living a full, authentic and free life. We are here to support you in your likeness.
